I had the best experience having my first gait analysis done by Katie today. I’ve always bought my trainers online and I could tell I wasn’t buying the right fit for me due to knee pain and blisters. I got there for the store opening and it was so lovely to see it busy and thriving. Katie knew exactly who was next and was so on top of running the shop. Even though the shop was busy I didn’t once feel rushed or under pressure. Katie watched the way I walked with my current trainers, without trainers and with 4 options which I ended up purchasing 2/4 pairs as both felt very comfortable and will be well used for running and in the gym. So many great options and really good advice in such a modern shop. I will be back for all my trainers now! Thanks again to Katie and her staff.

Went here about 3 months ago for running shoes as a newbie to running. I had bought some online but was getting shin pain. I was dealt with by a young boy who was friendly. I had initially opted to go here because of the gait analysis that they offer. It turned out to just be the boy asking me to take my shoes off and walk up and down for him to have a look. He told me that I needed a shoe with arch support because of how my feet were landing. He let me try on a few pairs that he‘d recommend. I ended up buying a pair of Hoka shoes (that were within the recommendations) and spent £150. The next run I got blisters on my arches, called the shop to ask for advice and was told to try some running socks. Another £40 later and I’m still getting blisters all over my arches. I’m pretty gutted at the amount spent for the recommended shoe to be too high of an arch. I now need to start again with hunting for help with shoes!

Visited today to buy a pair running trainers as my others were starting to come to the end of their life. I was also hoping to try a different brand from my other shoes and something a little more fun. I was helped by Stef, who couldn’t have been more helpful. We discussed what I was looking for, issues I had, budget etc. After an initial assessment he brought out a couple of pairs to try but didn’t stop there. Tried on a wide selection of shoes ruling out those that weren’t quite working for me. We eventually got what certainly felt like the best pair for me. The shop does get busy and there can be a wait but thats because you get the their full attention while you’re there. There was no trying to rush you off or finish quickly. Would highly recommend

A perfect experience. I was made to feel like my choice of running shoes was the most important thing to the shop assistant (sorry did not get your name) at the time. He actually said he would prefer spending time doing the gait analysis rather than have me buy a pair of shoes without checking. Prices were as expected. I possibly I could pay less on Internet, but shoes are important so I think worth going to a good shop. When I went in I assumed it was a shop for those who run far and fast, which I don't, but came away feeling neither intimidated nor inadequate. It felt like a very inclusive shop and with knowledgeable and caring staff. I bought Asics gt2000-12 I think my son will be going along next.

A brilliant place to go for proper running shoes! Katie was first class. Tried on about ten different pairs of running shoes and nothing was a bother. Will be back.

Firstly I would like to say that the staff at Achilles Heel are absolutely amazing and knowledgeable - Katie, Stef, Karen, Steve & Co. On a couple of occasions, I was on the phone for almost 20mins with Katie and Stef, regarding running shoes and clothing (I live in the East End of London) and the level of service was second to none. Secondly, I purchased a product and unfortunately it was sent to another address. I spoke to Steve, who was responsible for the orders and he was a true gent. He apologised immensely and sent me a replacement the following day. What a store, keep up the good work guys! By the way Katie, as we discussed on the phone we need an Achilles Heel in London. Still a good choice of running shoes but I feel the expert advice is no longer there compared to my previous visits. There is little to separate Achilles Heel from standard sports shops .

Great experience today being fitted for a running trainer. As a beginner with no proper knowledge on what to buy i was talked through the full process and given many options to suit me. Kitted out with my trainers and on my way, great service! Thanks again Joni

It’s a difficult skill for clear experts to be able to talk to newbies and not come across as condescending or intimidating. This is a skill that everyone at Achilles heel has mastered. I went in for my first pair of dedicated running shoes and spent as long as was necessary to get the right pair. Since then my distance has improved and all joint pain I had from my previous shoes has disappeared. They didn’t try and upsell and make me leave with the most expensive shoes in the store. Truly a great environment!
